# Create a motion path

To create a motion path:

* Select your layer.
* Go to [animate mode](https://docs.lottielab.com/editor/animating/design-vs-animate-mode).
* Drag the [playhead](https://docs.lottielab.com/editor/animating/timeline/playhead-and-controls) across your timeline.
* Move the shape on the canvas, you now have a motion path.
