# Create a motion path

To create a motion path:

* Select your layer.
* Go to [animate mode](/editor/animating/design-vs-animate-mode.md).
* Drag the [playhead](/editor/animating/timeline/playhead-and-controls.md) across your timeline.
* Move the shape on the canvas, you now have a motion path.
